Outwit the Terminator
Don’t think the Terminator is just the stuff of Hollywood movie blockbusters.
“Real-life” robots are here. And they – together with artificial intelligence applications – may well be out to grab your job.
This might sound like science fiction. But it is fact.
We are in the midst of an important shift towards AI – artificial intelligence – and robotics and this is beginning to affect the work environment to a point where a real-life terminator, robot or form of artificial intelligence could well affect your job – even tear it from under you.
US President Donald Trump issued an order for America to spend big on AI, in part because of the growing competition with China.
So how does this growing automation and hyped-up AI affect us?
Firstly, there are strong indications that jobs and work in general will be affected by these developments. It’s here already in the form of robots in factories, supermarket check-outs, fast-food ordering, and other ways in which workers are being squeezed by machines.
Secondly, we are moving towards a more connected world where our behavior is getting increasingly tracked – or where are data is used by third party organizations – Big Tech – either to our benefit or detriment.
FREE YOURSELF FROM THE GRIP
One important message that comes from tracking these developments is the more independent you are in terms of income and asset ownership, the more chance you will survive and thrive in this rapidly changing world.
That is where running an online business comes in.
Whether you decide on a “side hustle” or you are aiming to turn it in your main income-earner, an online business has the potential to act as a hedge in difficult times and offer you the freedom you dream about.
BUCKLE UP
With Terminator or more benign forms of automation and digital intelligence affecting the work space in many places around the world, running an online business is certainly an option.
But – as I am sure you are aware – it is not a simple “press-button” way to bring in bucks.
It takes skills.
It takes work.
It takes patience.
It takes a plan.
If you are serious, you need to buckle up for the ride.
CHILLING IN YOUR COMFORT ZONE
One of the challenges in really focusing and building a business online is that we may be operating in our comfort zone.
If you’ve got a job – you feel safe.
If you’ve got some savings – you feel safe.
It is easy to not take our online business building too seriously because we live in a comfort zone. We are not down to our last few cents. We are not desperate.
This is the danger for a lot of people – they feel relatively comfortable and it takes work to build an online business.
The result? Treating your online business like a hobby. Or not even getting started at all.
TAKE ON THE TERMINATOR
We are all living in a less secure world financially than might have been the case a few decades ago.
Forget jobs for life.
Forget job security.
So it would be wise to get serious about building an online “side hustle” or aim for a full-time income-earning option using the internet as your platform.
You no doubt know the score – Opportunities include promoting products as an affiliate or selling your own products or services.
Yes, it takes effort.
But you will thank yourself in years to come for making the jump.
And you will get the chance to thumb your nose at the Terminator.
Not many people get to do that!
