MAUI TRAINING 3 – What comes after you have found a good system?

If you are building a business online, the toughest part is the struggle at the beginning to gain traction and begin bringing in money. It might sound obvious – of course it is going to be hard at the start – but, seriously, this is the part of the journey where the vast majority give up.

At a recent 4-day internet marketing training workshop in Maui, Hawaii, a key message was the necessity to “keep on keeping on”.

As you can see from the photo of one of the participants with internet marketer Jason Gazaway, the event was not all hard work – the last day gave us all a chance to relax and get out to sea.

But let’s get back to my point:

Just look at the stats – it is estimated that only about 3 percent of people who try to build a business online stick with it and have success. That leaves about 97 percent of people floundering and failing to really gain traction.

As I noted in my last post, it helps to have a good system to follow, like this one HERE.

But there are a number of good systems out there on the internet that if followed properly could lead to success. Systems that provide you with the training and tools to get the hang of really building a business online.

The question then is what comes after finding a good system and getting to work with it?

WORK AT IT
Let’s assume you are starting to build a build a business online by selling products for a commission – affiliate marketing. This is a great way to get started, even if you plan eventually to sell your own products and services. Building an affiliate marketing business gives you experience in the trenches, without all the challenges of making your own products, having a payment system, and providing support.

That’s all done for you if you are selling somebody else’s product.

Let’s suppose you are selling an internet marketing training product (SEE HERE) – learning from the training you receive and then selling that product to others. Internet marketing training products are cool to be involved with because they help you to learn how to build a business online.

You learn as you go and you make an income as you go. Cool, eh?

LEARN FROM DOING
The key point is to follow the training carefully and put it into practice.

Initially this means finding people to view the product – so you need “traffic,” people who could be interested in buy the product – whether the product costs as little as $1.

So initially you will be focused on people seeing your product. This could be through so-called “free traffic” such as through social media. But if you want to really make progress you would be wise to focus on “paid traffic” such as solo ads, Facebook ads or Youtube ads to quickly find potential customers.

This costs money. It is best to start small, test, find out what works, and then slowly scale up.
As part of this process, you should focus on building your own list of subscribers – an email list of people interested in internet marketing.

There is a famous saying – the money is in the list, your email list. But there is more to it that simply working to build a reasonable size email list.

You need to build a “relationship” with your subscribers – real people with their own needs and desires who you may be able to help.

BUT STAY COOL
Now here comes the hard part – stay cool and trust in the system.

In this world of instant gratification, if we don’t see immediate results then we tend to begin raising questions. And we may throw the baby out with the bathwater and then move on to the next shiny object.

Don’t.

Stick with it.

If you are paying for traffic, getting people to view your product, but seeing limited results, there is a tendency to feel the system or the product is not up to scratch.

It is crucial to stay cool and patient.

Give the process time to work. This is the hardest part – hanging in for the long haul.

This means initially paying out more money for traffic than the income you initially make.

The key is to follow the system and build a relationship with your subscribers.

And here is the key – in time your subscribers will buy, well at least a certain percentage of them will.

I will return to this subject in due course but at least understand that this is a game of persistence.
Stick with it.
