MAUI TRAINING 1 – Learning from the experts

Last week I was lucky enough to travel to the island of Maui, Hawaii to attend a four-day intensive workshop on how to build a viable business online.

This was an opportunity to learn from millionaire internet marketers how to build platforms and use systems and practices to build an online following and make sales.

The internet offers people from all walks of life the opportunity to build a business online or leverage it to support and build their career.

NEW DIGITAL ECONOMY
Right now, we are in early days of the New Digital Economy. If you jump online today and look for opportunities to build a business online or work online from home, it can seem a bit like the Wild West – you are likely to be bombarded with “offers” and “opportunities” promising you success.

It can be hard to know what to trust.

Luckily, there are good programs that can help train you to effectively build a durable business online – anything from affiliate marketing (selling other people’s products for commissions) to selling your own expertise or products.

BUILDING ONLINE SKILLS
The workshop I attended offered the chance to understand and leverage systems and practices to reach out and build an email list of interested people who might at some point buy from you or buy the affiliate products you might be promoting.

Firstly, you need to understand the systems and processes that allow you to market and communicate online.

Secondly, you need a plan of action for whatever it is you are promoting.

Thirdly, you need to set yourself short-term, medium and long-term goals – and you need to manage your expectations. It is great to have high expectations but it could take time for your business to take off.

Fourthly, you need to recognize the daily action steps you need to take to begin to build a business online.

And, fifthly, you need to test and tweak your marketing and communication to see what works best.

This is the bedrock, so to speak, of your online business.
